RAR?

RAR archives were developed to efficiently store very large files (movies, music). The down side to this is that the larger the file, the greater number of parts it must be split into. More parts equals more chance that a part will be lost. It is a time and bandwidth tragedy to download 100 megabytes of data only to end up tossing it in the recycle bin because one part is missing.

The RAR specification provides a possible solution to this problem by introducing .PAR files. A single PAR file can substitute for any missing or corrupt part of an archive. If Pluckit cannot assemble an entire RAR archive, it will not delete it. Instead the parts will be saved to the "multipart_salvage" subdirectory of the Pluckit directory. They may then be manually manipulated if desired.

Pluckit automatically identifies, downloads, assembles, and decodes RAR and PAR files, even RAR's that have been yEnc'ed!
