If You Are A First Time User Not Getting Any Pictures Read This:

If you have just installed Pluckit and it is working like crazy but not displaying any pictures, then your news server hasn't cleaned up its database in a while. To make a long story short, Pluckit asks the news server where the first article is. The server replies and Pluckit starts plucking from that point. Unfortunately, if the news server database is not up to date, it will tell Pluckit to look for articles that have already been deleted, and simply are not there.

But the cure is easy. Go to the main viewer screen and click on the percent button "%" (change starting point). Set the starting point to 20 or 30 percent. That should get you into the part of the database that still has articles. If not, move it up to 50% or further.

11/07/05	Pluckit will not run under XP under any circumstances.	Install version 9.5. This version is much more tolerant of XP's oddities.
4/13/05	After working perfectly for years, Pluckit suddenly jumps to the "finished" screen without plucking anything.	Install version 9.3. This problem is actually the result of changes in your isp's news server software. That explains why the problem appeared suddenly.
